Marion (Segal) Freed

Marion FreedEver since graduation from Barnard where she majored in English, Marion had been fortunate enough to work as a writer almost immediately, first as the editorial researcher on the renowned history series, "You Are There", hosted by Walter Cronkite. From there, she became Story Editor for CBS on some of their most prestigious shows "Climax", "Studio One", "Playhouse Ninety" and others. Then, on to McCann Ericson where she wrote advertising copy and finally, as an editor, to Dell and Pine´s Publications.

Marion retired completely for ten years to raise her two daughters, but once they were in school all day, she felt she needed to return to work, becoming another kind of editor – a film editor, winning acclaim and awards, becoming one of the most sought-after editors and post production supervisors in Hollywood.

In 1981, she made her first efforts at film writing. Sheldon Keller, one of Sid Caesar´s lead writers invited her to be his partner. Then, when she met her husband Herb, they joined forces to develop feature film projects. Herb produced and Directed, Marion wrote and edited. Marion developed and wrote more than twenty five feature scripts. Five of them have been produced and distributed world-wide.

In 1986, she became the co-founder of Bellrock Entertainment, Inc., where she became the Creative Director, in charge of all film and TV projects. At Bellrock, she wrote, co-produced and edited and oversaw production of each of the films in production, while she continued to develop numerous film and TV projects, many of which are currently in the works.

In 2006, her first book, "SIDESWIPED" was published and she was featured as Fidlar-Doubleday/Atlas Books author-of-the-month for October and November. This is her first book, a collection of short stories in a very different vein.

In addition to developing "BEYOND THE CALL", a movie inspired by one of the most heroic events of World War II, Marion is also writing a novel to be published in summer of 2007.
